Episode Synopsis

The episode opens with the group standing in front of the House of Mirrors on the grounds of an abandoned amusement park. According to one of Lauren's visions a young woman is about to be sacrificed by demons inside the funhouse. Choosing a less than stealthy tactic, Lauren uses here telekinesis to shatter several of the funhouse mirrors just inside the building entrance. This attracts the attention of the demon cultists within who send several of their number outside to deal with the intruders. After swiftly dealing with these demons, the group heads into the funhouse following the sound of more demons chanting some sort of ritual. They come to a strange room that seems out of place in the House of Mirrors, a room with stone walls and three archaic looking mirrors on separate walls. Here they find the rest of the demons, and their sacrifice. Lauren gets the girl out of the way while the others deal with the demons. These cultists offer little challenge to the team, and two surviving demons leap into one of the mirrors in the room, somehow transporting themselves away. When Ethan tries to follow he slams into the mirror, though does not damage it.

With the immediate threat over the team splits up. Ethan and Lauren take the girl back to her home, Dana goes to research the demons and the ritual they were performing, while Patrick and Jalen stay and try to and take down the mirror that the demons fled through. After several attempts to dislodge the mirror from its spot on the wall, Patrick and Jalen give up. They go to get some rope from Patrick's car to string across the mirror (in case the demons try and return through it) but are unable to find the room again when they go back into the funhouse. Back in the now inaccessible room, however, something is happening. One of the other mirrors, covered in demon blood from a particularly messy kill by Patrick, is glowing. From out of the mirror steps someone who looks exactly like Patrick, except that this one's face bears a look of pure evil and malice.

Dana's research reveals that the demons are called Maeraks and they are part of an apocalyptic cult obsessed with a document called the Propheticus Infernus. Dana is also able to figure out that the ritual they were performing was an activation sequence for some kind of artifact, maybe even to activate some power in one of the mirrors. She informs Patrick and Jalen of this discovery and the two decide it would be safer to burn down the House of Mirrors building rather than risk the demons trying to find the mirror room again. Dana decides to pull an all-nighter to learn more about the strange room with the mirrors.

That night Patrick has a nightmare where he sees himself holding a teenage girl captive. All around them Los Angeles is burning and the fires spread across the world. When the entire planet has become a Hell world Patrick sees himself sitting on a throne of bones ruling an army of demons. Awakening from the nightmare Patrick goes into his washroom, splashing cold water in his face to finish waking up. When he looks up he is horrified to see that he has no reflection. Patrick immediately calls Dana, who is still awake doing research. She has learned that the strange room is actually a mystic locale called the Hall of Reflection. The Hall exists outside space and time and can only be reached using a special ritual that can anchor it temporarily to this reality. According to Dana's research the Hall is the home of three mystic mirrors. One mirror, the one used by the demons to escape, can be used to travel anywhere in space and time. The second mirror, the one the Maerak demons were trying to activate with the sacrificial ritual, can show a person any person, place, or thing anywhere in time and space. The third mirror can create a duplicate of any person, but the duplicate is the original's opposite. Patrick realizes that the blood from one of the demons he killed must have accidentally activated the third mirror, creating an evil mirror version of himself. Fearing what his double may be up to, Patrick contacts his former partner, Frank Brigham. He learns that his double has already been in touch with Frank, specifically asking about missing teenage girls in the LA area. Patrick gets Frank to send him the information and tells him to not listen to him again unless Patrick gives him a particular code word first.

Dana, meanwhile, continues her research. She learns that there is a copy of the Propheticus Infernus in Los Angeles, in the possession of a rich and eclectic collector named Lionel Philip Randolph. She is able to Randolph people and arrange a meeting. Taking Jalen with her, Dana meets Mr. Randolph for lunch at a trendy cafe. Randolph is marginally knowledgeable about Dana because of her thesis work on the occult, specifically demonic mythology and prophecies, at UCLA, something Randolph has an interest in himself. When he learns Dana has a copy of the Book of Zar-n'Atoth Randolph arranges an exchange. He will let Dana examine his copy of the Propheticus Infernus if he can have a look at the Book. They agree and Randolph immediately brings Dana, Jalen, and the Book to his large house in the Hollywood Hills. In the presence of Randolph's two large bodyguards Kurt and Rod, Dana gets her first look at the apocalyptic prophecy the Maerak demons were so obsessed with.

Patrick has received the missing persons files from Frank and sees that one of the girls is the same one he saw in his dream. The girl, Jennifer Guerrin, has been missing since the murder-suicide of her parents the week before. The report itself was file by her uncle RIchard. Patrick contacts Ethan and asks him to try and locate the girl though his street contacts. Meanwhile Patrick goes to meet with the uncle, who is staying at a hotel in town hoping to find his niece. Checking with Anne Steele, Ethan lucks out and finds out that the missing girl has been staying at Ann's teen shelter until she left after a fight with one of the other kids there. From there Ethan is able to track Jennifer to a seedy motel and he arrives in time to fight off a pair of Maerak demons that try to kidnap her.

Speaking with the uncle, Patrick begins to suspect he is not who he pretends to be. Before he can get more details, Patrick gets a call from Ethan telling him he has found the girl. The uncle has overheard part of the conversation and asks if Jennifer has been found, but Patrick lies and tells him that is not what the call is about. After Patrick leaves, though, the uncle places a call from the hotel room and informs whoever is on the other end that the girl has been found. By this time, Dana has finished her initial research and learns that the prophecy is tied to someone called the Daughter of the Fates. She lets Patrick know, and he suspects it may be the girl. Patrick asks Dana to check into the uncle's background and to send Jalen to the Blue Plate Diner, where Ethan has taken the girl.

At the diner, Ethan learns some of Jennifer's story. The girl says she has been having strange dreams for years and that sometimes the dreams come true. She tells Ethan that her father abused her and her mother and her mother did nothing to protect them, so last week she wished that her father would just kill her mother and himself. That night she dreamed that her father shot her mother then committed suicide and the next day it came true. Believing it was her fault she ran away. While Jennifer is telling the story Patrick and Lauren arrive at the diner. While waiting for Jalen, Ethan notices a group of strangely dressed people approaching the diner. Looking closer he sees that they are demons. Outside, Jalen is just arriving when he sees the demons, and he also notices a black SUV with tinted windows parked nearby, a very conspicuous vehicle for this neighborhood.

Ethan tells Lauren to take Jennifer out the back and get her to safety. Meanwhile Patrick heads outside to confront the demons. When they see Patrick, the demons shed their disguises and rush towards the diner. At the same time, in the alley in back of the diner, Lauren and Jennifer are ambushed by Patrick's evil twin. Mirror-Patrick knocks out Lauren and takes Jennifer.
